The second, revised and expanded edition of the first volume of the popular textbook Basics of Anatomy includes general anatomy and the anatomy of the musculoskeletal system. Anatomical structures are named according to the Terminologia Anatomica (1998) and commonly used Czech names are also provided. Each chapter describes the development and growth of the respective system and its developmental defects. The muscles of each muscle group are clearly organized in tables (name, origin, insertion, innervation, function), and notes on clinical correlations are highlighted in gray, while detailed notes, especially on development, are printed in petit. The text is accompanied by 204 images, including images taken by various imaging methods, most illustrations are in color, and their descriptions are directly in the images. At the end of the book, readers will find a list of abbreviations used, a note on the writing of anatomical terms, and an index. The textbook contains information necessary for students in non-medical fields and is sufficient for a quick current orientation for doctors.
