"I was born in the middle of the last century. I had an ordinary childhood in the Hradčany apartment of my rather extraordinary parents – my father was a theater artist, a composer, but also a poet, writer, and theater director. In rare moments, he was also a singer and dancer, and even a painter… He died when I was about to move from the first grade to the second, and so I grew up with my mother, an actress, a writer, and later also the director of a small touring theater called Maringotka. Although she was always working, she always found time for me. I dealt with my relationship with my father in a much more complicated way, but not because he was apparently a genius artist while I was not; I was always rather attracted to and pleased by that.
