The popular science book covers a wide range of topics related to contemporary human genetics. It aims to provide a clear insight into the issues and, above all, to outline its background from scientific, medical, and social perspectives. The stories are indeed diverse: we encounter Angelina Jolie, the Neanderthal genome, President Obama's DNA, which was even offered for sale on eBay, a DNA test that supposedly reveals a talent for a specific sport, or a new test aimed at fundamentally changing the current screening for pregnant women, among many others... Not only does genetics come closer to each of us through these facts and stories, but it is also present in each of us. We all have genes and chromosomes, but we understand too little about what they actually mean for us. What can our genome show us? And what can it not reveal? What should everyone know about their DNA? Who has access to genetic information? How will genetics (and genomics) continue to influence the functioning of our healthcare?
