Description
The third historical guide to Brno, following Nazi Brno and Stalinist Brno. This time, the authors want to remind readers of the places associated with the years 1945-1946, a time marked by reckoning with collaborators, Nazis, and Germans in general. Although the guide covers only two years, it is a period that is crucial for the history of Brno. The reckoning was very harsh here. In addition to the notorious wild deportations, the hatred towards Germans was reflected in the brutal treatment in several internment camps, where Brno Germans awaited their departure from the republic. The forced displacement of the German population, along with the destruction of the Jewish community during the war, forever changed the face of the originally multi-ethnic city, influencing the shape of Brno to this day. The publication is supplemented with period photographs and illustrations.
