Description
Krtniks are not born, but appear. They do not die, but disappear. The Krtnik lives in the mountains, where he sings to the foxes and the waterfall and talks to the stones. He lives here and now, lacking nothing. Until he meets the Bear from the city, who confuses him with colorful stories about the big world. He brings him books, they talk together and become friends. And then the Bear calmly disappears! For the first time in his life, the Krtnik feels something is missing. And then Zaškvar arrives in the mountains — a strange, ugly creature with two mouths. He promises the sad Krtnik that he will take him to the city to see the Bear, if he can do something interesting. Really well. Best of all! In an effort to become someone else (so that the Bear will like him), the Krtnik does everything Zaškvar wants, and gradually loses himself... The authorial book by artist Tereza Ščerbová is a philosophical fairy tale for teenagers who will one day face the adult world, and for adults who want or need to remember.
