Description
A novella about Commissioner Wallander. After thirty years in the same job, Commissioner Kurt Wallander is tired, grumpy, and feels the urge to finally change something. When he gets the chance to buy an old farmhouse with a magical overgrown garden in the peaceful countryside, it seems like a dream. However, the idyll quickly dissipates — the commissioner finds a hand, actually an entire skeleton, buried in a shallow grave in the garden. Instead of setting up a cozy home, Wallander has no choice but to do what he does best — search for a murderer. This charming detective novella was written by Henning Mankell as a bonus for passionate readers of detective stories. ----- Reading this short story is an absolute pleasure that is worth savoring. Mankell writes in the afterword: "There will be no more stories about Kurt Wallander," and adds: "I won’t miss him. Readers will." He is right. - The Guardian
