Description
From the works of the classic of poetry and shorter prose Svatopluk Čech (1846–1908), the Czech Library presents as its first volume the humorous-satirical "Broučkiáda." It encompasses all the prose associated with the character of the Prague burgher Matěj Brouček, which have not been published together for several decades: two versions of The True Trip of Mr. Brouček to the Moon (published in a magazine in 1886, in book form in 1888), A New Epochal Trip of Mr. Brouček, this time to the Fifteenth Century (1889), and Matěj Brouček at the Exhibition (1892). These four prose works will be published for the first time in the form of a critically commented edition. The edition was prepared and commented on by Michal Topor.
