Description
The traditional yearbook, both loved and hated, is a selection of Czech poetry. The selection of the 'best' poems is not meant to suggest an illusion of objectivity, but is the result of a meeting between two editors, two subjective views on the poetry of the given year and on poetry as such. The volume will again present approximately forty poems that were published in the past year as poetic novelties by Czech authors; attention is paid to book publishing, magazine publications, as well as online. In 2015, the editorial baton will be taken up by poet and editor Petr Borkovec and poet and publicist Tomáš Gabriel. Petr Borkovec (born 1970) is a poet, translator, editor, and educator. For his literary work, he received the Jiří Orten Award and the annual Award from the Czech Literary Fund Foundation. In addition to a number of poetry collections, he has also published children's poems, short prose, and translations of Russian poetry. His books and selections from them have been published in Germany, Austria, Italy, and Great Britain. Tomáš Gabriel (born 1983) is a poet and publicist. For his debut poetry collection, Tak černý kůň tak pozdě v noci (Literární salon 2012), he was nominated for the Jiří Orten Award. He publishes in magazines such as Tvar, Literární.cz, Host, and Souvislosti.
