Pyramida – Mankell Henning (2016)

The Stories of Wallander's Beginnings The book Pyramid represents a step back into the past in the series of novels about Commissioner Wallander and reveals the Ystad commissioner as we have never seen him before. Wallander solves his first murder case as a twenty-one-year-old patrolman in Malmö, then we see him as a young father facing unexpected danger on Christmas Eve, as a middle-aged detective on the brink of a marriage breakdown, and as a newly independent investigator tackling the brutal murder of a local photographer. In the title story, Wallander is already presented as an experienced detective with his typical style of instinctive yet methodical work, discovering an unexpected connection between a downed plane and the murder of a pair of lonely sisters. In these five amazing stories set before the opening piece of the series Faceless Killers, we follow Kurt Wallander on his journey to himself not only as a detective but also as a human being.
