Description
Twelve seemingly unrelated stories of residents of contemporary metropolises and their suburbs. Twelve characters are, like in a laboratory experiment, infected with varying doses of neuroses, obsessions, phobias, and manias. They are exposed to a confusing environment of symbolic switches and wandering roots. Blood on clothes and on the street. Unending humidity. Overflowing soup and river. Foreign languages intrude into the logic of the situation, and words fly out the window. What is believed in may indeed appear without explanation, and those who lose the will to exist may also gradually truly disappear. Determination is certainly not lacking in those twelve characters. Ruin as a state, where after an earthquake only rubble remains on the floor from the pillars, but also as a small and important lever that sets things in motion. Sára Vybíralová presents a dozen refined stories that defy expectations, thus fulfilling the notion of a confident debut.
