What is an aesthetic judgment? Can an aesthetic judgment be universally valid? How can we convince someone of the correctness of our aesthetic evaluation? What is an aesthetic property? The publication presents answers to these and other questions through the tools of the philosophy of language, relying on empirical findings from cultural sociology and ethnographic research on taste. The fundamental message of the book is the thesis that philosophical and sociological aesthetics are complementary fields of knowledge that condition and need each other in order to satisfactorily answer the aforementioned questions.
