Description

The extensive novel fresco from the Wallachian environment, Duely, tells the stories of several generations of mountain farmers, whose memory actually creates the backdrop of the present. The depiction of the continuity and transformation in the thinking of grandfathers, fathers, and sons leads to the main idea of the work, which is the categorical law of humanity and morality, individual and social responsibility. The real contemporary and historical narrative often intertwines with mythical folkloric imagery and the depiction of the unique mountainous nature of the Moravian-Slovak border. All in the form of short, often contrastingly interrupted cuts, whose motifs sometimes intertwine, sometimes return, or ironically refute, ultimately creating a harmonious composition that is stylistically and compositionally thought-out and cohesive. However, the First Duel and the Second Duel are not only a personal testimony – they present the perceptive reader with a whole range of pressing questions regarding the inner emotional wealth of a person and the establishment of a hierarchy of what is truly important in life.
