Description
The bet kicks off a biologist's search into unresolved French cases in the first installment of the Akta Enzo series. A ten-year-old mystery—the disappearance of the brilliant Jacques Gaillard, a lecturer at the elite French school École nationale d’administration, which trains French prime ministers and presidents—becomes the subject of a wager. Enzo Macleod, who left Scotland and a promising career in forensic science to teach biology in Toulouse, France, cannot afford to lose. He hopes to uncover what happened to Jacques Gaillard using new scientific methods. Enzo arrives in Paris to meet journalist Roger Raffin, the author of a book on seven famous unsolved murders, which includes the case of Jacques Gaillard. An unidentified skull found in a suitcase in the Paris catacombs soon leads Enzo to the trail of Gaillard's cleverly hidden remains.
