Description

Two women on a hiking trip in the Jämtland mountains in northern Sweden find a skeleton's hand on the riverbank. However, the local police soon uncover a total of six bodies: four adults and two children. The Swedish criminal police are called in, and Sebastian Bergman sets off with his team to Jämtland. At the scene, they quickly discover that all six bodies were buried at the same time, but the condition of the remains is not the same. Two of the bodies are easily identified as a Dutch couple who have been missing since November 2003. The others remain a mystery—their DNA proves that they are parents with children; however, at that time, no family was reported missing. Another mystery is the investigation of a fatal traffic accident that occurred in the same week the Dutch disappeared. The name under which the car was rented leads to no further clues. The state criminal police find many things do not make sense. The case takes on even greater dimensions when it intersects with the investigation into the strange disappearance of two Afghan immigrants. The police team embarks on the investigation with persistence and determination, while also having to face their own problems, personnel changes, and unexpected revelations...
