The inquiry-based textbook of contemporary history is a significant innovation in our country, as it is based on a constructivist approach grounded in the interpretation of sources and working with materials, developing historical literacy and serving creative and inquiry-based work. It is not about teaching students to recite history, but to think about the past: Why do events happen? What are their impacts? How to understand people who lived in the past? We are proud that the Ministry of Education considers our method promising and is striving for its expansion. At the same time, we have become part of the project Dějepis+ with our set of inquiry-based textbooks, inquiry workbooks, and teacher's guides, which involved more than two hundred pilot teachers by September 2021. How does the inquiry-based textbook differ from others? - It allows students to shape their view of the past, the images of which surround us - in street names, in places we visit, in books, and in computer games. - Creative tasks are based on the interpretation and analysis of sources - historical documents or expert opinions. - Thanks to its hybrid nature, students gain access to interesting online exercises from the HistoryLab app and videos on Škole s nadhledem through codes.
