Italské listy – Čapek Karel (2023)

On the 100th anniversary of the first edition of Čapek's Italian Letters (1923), a collection of travel essays from the author's two-month journey in search of sunny skies and classical artistic culture, filled with stimuli, allusions, irony, linguistic humor, and juxtaposing famous landmarks with snapshots from the streets, this is published as the second part of an exceptional edition that follows the format and graphic design of the already released Pictures from Holland. It includes the author's now-classic book, which the publisher has supplemented with a second volume titled Italian Letters. In the Footsteps of Karel Čapek, presenting the script of a documentary film made based on the aforementioned work, as well as excerpts from works by several other authors from the same locations visited by Čapek, and last but not least, a wealth of photographs from the authentic places of Čapek's stay in Italy in 1923. The two books in a case are additionally complemented by a flash drive with extraordinary content - featuring the film Italian Letters or Health and Kisses KČ made according to the aforementioned work (4K, 55 min.) and 300 photographs from the journey - as well as one original photograph from the trip in Čapek's footsteps by photographer, cameraman, and director Michal Huvar.
