Description
The book Sport Lovers or The Death of a Scoundrel is the first in a series of detective stories collectively titled Lovers from the Educational Environment, which features the character of investigator Dan Švéda. This main character, with a touch of exaggeration, resembles the cult figure of detective Phil Marlowe from Raymond Chandler's novels, although his name refers more to Nordic patterns. While he is not a classic detective, he embarks on investigations of cases where professionals have failed, and despite numerous scars, he is always successful. Alongside an engaging plot and a necessary dose of eroticism, readers will also become acquainted with the author's critical stance on the state of contemporary Czech education. In the first story, Daniel Švéda investigates the death of a high school student. Based on his experiences, he uncovers that it is not a school accident, but a murder. In collaboration with the police, colleagues from the education sector, and other individuals, the inspector gradually discovers new facts that ultimately lead him to solve the case and also uncover further crimes. This thrilling detective story provides insight into the current educational system, whose shortcomings become the main culprit of the crime.
