The book thoroughly and apolitically addresses the misconceptions and ideological distortions of the mainstream presentation of climate science, which is much less black-and-white than many people realize. "Science is settled" is a popular and rather poorly translatable slogan among climate alarmists today. It is usually translated as "the science knows." But does "the science know"? As the renowned scientist Steven E. Koonin demonstrates in the book, climate science is actually "unsettled," meaning it not only does not clearly "know," but it also lacks sufficient data to dictate public policy. His work is an excellent study of the immense complexity and uncertainties prevailing in this field and serves as a cautionary tale about how interpretative filters in the policy-making process have shaped and often distorted the climate debate.
