The book offers original and often very personal memories or "double memories" of exceptional personalities from cultural and intellectual life, with whom the authors met primarily during the publication of Brno magazines Proglas, Revue Politika, and Kontexty, but also earlier, before November 1989, during various independent activities. The individual portraits were created spontaneously over the past quarter-century and capture the period roughly from the mid-1980s to the present. They thus provide valuable testimony not only about specific people and their fates, books, texts, and ideas, but also about one exceptional and revolutionary time. ***** "Much of what we write about in it is already in the past.
