Adam Kašpar – Kašpar Adam (2023)

This monograph presents the three creative areas of Adam Kašpar (born 1993), one of the prominent representatives of the youngest generation of Czech artists. A graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague, Kašpar is generally regarded as a realist painter, although for him realism means less a technical approach or outward appearance than an inner experience and a direct, concrete and truthful depiction of the world around him. He considers himself primarily an observer and part of nature, with painting serving as a means of communicating his observations to others. His work explores the space between the sky, represented by astronomical observation, the earth, with its forests and landscapes, and the underground, explored through geology. He travels throughout the Czech lands and abroad in search of motifs, occasionally collaborating with natural scientists, including the Czech Geological Survey, Šumava National Park and the National Museum. His home and studio are in the Jeseníky Mountains. The monograph includes his geological, ecological and astronomical studies, written by Jan Dotřel, Pavel Dvořák, Barbora Kundračíková and Matthew Rampley.
