After a theoretical introduction and a brief excursion into Central European countries, the authors move to the territory of the Czech Republic and explain how and why constitutional customs developed here and how they influence the functioning of the Czech democratic regime. In addition to the established customs, they also address attempts to establish some other constitutional customs that ultimately failed. It is remarkable, though not surprising, that Czech constitutional customs, with one exception, concern the president of the republic. The reasons are described in the book. Constitutional customs are often a controversial term, yet frequently a key one that is good to know in any case.
