Description
One of Shakespeare's most popular comedies was created at the request of Queen Elizabeth, who took a liking to the character Falstaff from the historical drama Henry IV. The rotund and shameless seducer Sir John Falstaff becomes the victim of two Windsor ladies in this comedy, which is uniquely set in contemporary times, who repeatedly manage to mock him and similarly unfaithful husbands. Even in this play, Shakespeare's perspective elevates the cheerful story above similar works. It is published in a translation by Jiří Joska as the 179th volume of the D series.
