Jakobowski a plukovník – Werfel Franz (2021)

A significant representative of the group of Prague German-speaking authors, F. Werfel, in his drama set in occupied France, follows a disparate trio of refugees consisting of Polish Jew Jakobowski, a Polish colonel, and a charming Frenchwoman trying to escape the reach of the German occupiers. The author draws from his personal experiences during his emigration and labels his play as a comedy-tragedy. This remarkable work is being published in our country for the first time, translated by Jiří Stach as the 127th volume of the D series.
