The significant Brno writer, poet, playwright, dramaturge, and director Jiří Mahen left us a vast literary work. In his neo-romantic and still impressive drama, he tells the story of the legendary Slovak bandit who dedicated himself 'to that Slovakia, to those Janosik's regiments, who fight for the freedom of the nation, for its freedom and truth within it.' The character of Janosik was introduced to an enthusiastic audience in 1910 at the National Theatre in Prague by the famous Eduard Vojan. It is published as the 155th volume of the D edition.
