Description
Leopold Kopřiva, a doctor of philosophy, who is manipulated into the role of a 'hero,' screams at the end of Havel's 1975 play: 'Leave me alone, everyone!' Largo desolato is a dramatic portrayal of the 'absurd era,' the era of normalization. The authenticity and urgency of the play are strong due to the author's deep personal experience with the distorted reality of the seventies. The hero of the play, Leopold, waits in vain for liberation from the psychological stress caused by the hopelessness of situations and would prefer to return to prison. It is published in the D edition as its 150th volume.
