Description
Richard, now Lord Rahl, and Mother Confessor Kahlan are resisting a plague that is spreading through the city of Aydindril and across the land. This epidemic was unleashed upon the world by the mad emperor Jagang, ruler of the Old World and representative of the Imperial Order. Jagang has invoked a prophecy with a double loop that will plunge Richard into a situation where anything he does will end badly. Over time, Richard discovers that the magic causing the plague originates from the Temple of the Winds, where ancient wizards sealed the most dangerous magical knowledge three thousand years ago to prevent its cruel misuse by people. However, this temple has vanished from the surface of the earth. To be allowed to enter it, Richard must give up everything and be betrayed by the one he loves the most.
