Description
The main character of Andrzej Sapkowski's works is the witcher Geralt of Rivia. As a hired killer of vampires, werewolves, and all sorts of dangerous monsters, he naturally masters the combat and magical techniques necessary for his profession. However, he is not just a cold-blooded professional and certainly not one of the superheroes that the fantasy genre is teeming with. Gradually, it becomes clear that he did not have the opportunity to freely choose his fate, but rather is forced to pay dearly for abilities and skills that are unattainable and mostly incomprehensible to ordinary mortals. Therefore, he evokes fear and at the same time animosity and resentment from those whose lives he actually protects. Despite his positive impact, witchers are condemned to exile on the very fringes of society, which, while outwardly appearing medieval, possesses many attributes borrowed from the present.
