After the success of the publications 'The Landscape of the First Přemyslids' and 'The Landscape of Charles IV', Otomar Dvořák and Josef Pepson Snětivý present their eighth joint book, titled 'The Landscape of Albrecht von Wallenstein'. The Duke of Frýdlant is not exclusively a controversial figure – and certainly not a dark one – in our history. Few Czech personalities have managed to make such a significant impact on the European stage, and the fruits of his intentions still beautify our charming country today. The authors in this book explore his dramatic life from an unexpected angle: they visited places that marked him or that he, in turn, marked himself. Otomar focused on the history of towns, castles, and various regions and their incorporation into Wallenstein's biography, while Pepson scoured individual locations with a camera in hand, gathering interesting facts from sources, local chroniclers, museum curators, and others to enrich the narrative with additional contexts and remarkable objects in the vicinity. This exploratory journey endowed the authors with countless insights and experiences, of which the most interesting are made accessible to readers.
