Utajené hrady a zámky II. aneb Prahou podruhé po stopách panských sídel – Dvořák Otomar (2018)

Following their first exploration of Prague’s aristocratic residences, Otomar Dvořák and Josef “Pepson” Snětivý return to the city’s streets, hidden corners, archives and the layers beneath its present-day buildings to uncover further forgotten castles, chateaux and manor houses. Some survive only underground or in historical sources, such as the beautiful Sakrabonka chateau, while their memory often lives on in place names and in comparisons between former and present-day grounds. Particular attention is given to summer residences, presented as places of rise and decline, vanished and surviving beauty, and love stories. The authors also explore the area around Botič, describing existing residences as well as a demolished chateau with an extensive park whose existence is unknown even to many local people. Forgotten aristocratic seats are found throughout the southern, southwestern, southeastern, eastern and northern parts of Prague, sometimes requiring a journey beneath the ground and deep into the past. The book concludes with a visit beyond Prague, to Zdiby, where three chateaux stand within the municipality. The contents are in Czech.
