Description
The poems collected into a cohesive collection stem from memories of the childhood world that the author experienced in an enclave on the outskirts of Střešovice near Hradčany in the 1950s and early 1960s. The distorted and perverse times, both recent and contemporary, entered the lives of his parents and the parents of his childhood friends in various ways. They were also the cause of conflicts and confrontations with the environment of the then communist-controlled education system. On the other hand, it was still a time that provided children with freedom in their free time and opened up space for childlike spontaneity to a degree that today’s generations of children can only dream of. Tomášek has managed to evoke the bleak yet cherished times of childhood with few words.
