Description
The anthology introduces one of the most significant representatives of Russian Orthodoxy in the twentieth century, Alexander Men (1935–1990), who served as a priest in various parishes in the Moscow region throughout his life. He was a man who dedicated his entire life to spreading Christianity and religious education under extremely unfavorable conditions of Soviet communist totality. As the first to present himself as a representative of the Orthodox Church to the lay public during the so-called perestroika, he emerged as a modern man with vast education and insight, capable of addressing the religious and life issues of people living in post-Soviet society. For his great evangelistic success and especially for his significant ecumenical openness, he was insidiously murdered.
