Description
This Czech-language monograph reflects on the life, ideas and work of Zdeněk Vašíček. Its first section brings together texts offering a broader picture of Vašíček’s thinking and attitudes, or inspired and influenced by his ideas. The second contains studies examining themes from his work from various perspectives, while the third focuses on particular moments in his life and on the mark he left on the authors’ own lives and understanding of the world. The publication includes profiles of Pavel Vašíček and Zdeněk Vašíček, as well as an updated bibliography of Zdeněk Vašíček. It also includes the companion book 100% štěstí, based on a typescript collection that Vašíček dated to 1957 in Kroměříž. After completing his studies in philosophy and history at Charles University in Prague, Vašíček worked in the Kroměříž city archive while his friend Rudolf Jičín worked at a museum in Trutnov; the two maintained contact through correspondence and exchanged essays that Vašíček later called juvenilia. Contributors include Jaroslav J. Alt, David Bartoň, Jan Bouzek, Jan Brabec, Tomáš Dvořák, Tomáš Hermann, Jan Horský, Martin Hybler, Václav Janoščík, Jan Klápště, Petr Král, Ivan Kraus, Vlastimil Málek, Lubomír Martínek, Miroslav Petříček, Petr Placák, Jan Šabata, Viktor Šlajchrt, Jan Tesař and Pavel Vašíček.
