The third volume of the Writings of Josef Čapek contains the fairy tale About the Fat Great-Grandfather and the Robbers (included in Karel Čapek's book Nine Fairy Tales, 1932), as well as a dramatized, independently published version titled It Ended Well or The Fat Great-Grandfather, Robbers, and Detectives from 1932, and the book Conversations about the Dog and the Cat. How They Managed Together and Various Other Things (1st ed. 1929, 4th ed. 1937; the volume also includes – for the first time in book form – puppet plays How the Dog and the Cat Celebrated October 28 and How the Children Made St. Nicholas with the Dog and the Cat, which were created from two stories and published in 1932 in the magazine Loutkář) and in its original form, the series of stories Let's Talk, Children, which Čapek wrote and illustrated for the Children's Corner of Lidové noviny from 1929 to 1933 (it was later published by Miroslav Halík in 1954).
