Description
This Czech-language selection presents the work of the important Romani writer Andrej Giňa. Much of Giňa’s writing consists of stories he did not experience himself but heard being told. He is exceptional not only for reflecting in his texts on, among other things, the closing chapter of modern Romani history, namely the move from agricultural Slovakia to industrial Bohemia and the enormous change this brought to traditional Romani communities. His consistent dedication over many decades to writing in Romani and for Romani people is equally remarkable. He seeks to inspire people in his community, support them and give them courage, while also building bridges between Romani people and the non-Romani society around them.
