Description
In the seventeenth anthology of the Association of Teachers of Czech as a Foreign Language (AUČCJ), we present readers with a selection of contributions presented at four regular AUČCJ meetings held throughout 2022. The speakers were teachers of Czech as a foreign or second language, as well as instructors of other languages, linguists, and experts from various fields. The anthology introduces readers to newly published textbooks for teaching Czech to foreigners, and in light of the global situation, it addresses the current issue of integrating Ukrainian students – children, adolescents, and adults. Other contributions focus on sociocultural competencies, the use of didactic realities in teaching, and authentic materials, both textual and audiovisual. As part of examples of good practice, readers will learn how to speak Czech with students right from the first lessons and how to use the literary form of haiku in their work with students. Teachers will surely appreciate the contribution on supporting the mental health of educators. We believe that the contributions in this anthology will not only provide you with plenty of lessons but, above all, inspiration and the desire to try something new (not only) in your lessons.
