Description
The long-awaited prose debut of the well-known and acclaimed playwright and director David Drábek (* 1970) defies any definition. The story of life after death in a landscape of strange and fatal spacetime gradually builds up and transforms into a beautifully melancholic humanist narrative. The adventure of nearly a dozen characters, who are thrown into a 'post-death' situation with existential illogic and lack of choice, guides the reader through an entertaining yet thought-provoking labyrinth of the world and the pop of the heart, just as we know these qualities from the best of the playwright's works (Akvabely, the Chocolate Eaters trilogy, etc.). The story of David, the Giants, Gabriel, the Fenk family, the biblical Adam and Eve, as well as the eponymous Old Woman and the slightly horror-themed Emílie Dřevojánková will amuse and provoke readers both young and old, including non-readers. This long-awaited prose debut of the playwright defies any definition...
