The first part of the workbook complements lessons 1-12 of Lída Holá's publication Czech Step by Step 1. It brings a variety of activities and tasks aimed at practicing language skills, vocabulary, and grammatical phenomena introduced in the textbook. In addition to lexical and grammatical exercises, it also offers other texts and communication activities. For easy navigation, each exercise includes a reference to the relevant passages in the textbook. There are also more challenging exercises suitable for faster or more advanced students, such as those from Slavic countries, marked with a plus sign. At the end of each lesson, there are exercises to practice spelling, based on the vocabulary from that lesson. An important part of the lessons are also summary review exercises, where students can revisit the grammar and vocabulary from previous lessons. All tasks, comments, and explanations are in Czech only, making the workbook universal for all language versions of the textbook. The texts are accompanied by original illustrations and two-color photographs.
