Description
You may know Tomáš Belko (* 1965) from the stages of Czech rock clubs and festivals as a tenor saxophonist. He has played in Garáž among others and still plays in the band Sto zvířat, where he is also the sole lyricist. As a lyricist, he has written and continues to write for a number of other performers, including the most media-famous ones (Lucie Bílá, the band Lucie), as well as for theater. Never Anything Was is a collection of his song lyrics, named after the hit by Sto zvířat and based on what he would answer to the question of whether he ever had anything to do with the muse of love poetry, Erato. Belko's lyrics are among the best in Czech rock poetry. They are written with perspective, lightness, and a sense of humor, while not hiding serious content and sensitivity. The editor of the book, supplemented by the author's "quotes" and a number of unique photographs, is Jan Šulc.
