The common denominator of the individual chapters is the marginality indicated in the subtitle: the book presents it as a productive friction zone, where the interaction and touching of seemingly contradictory or difficult-to-reconcile areas leads to the emergence of new qualities. The titular metaphor of the kaleidoscope emphasizes the fact that collections of smaller signs, phenomena, or themes can be meaning-creating for a unique and inspiring image that cannot be seen through the lens of large scientific categories.
