Ladislav Hejdánek is known as a philosopher who spent his life rethinking the theme of truth. However, this book does not aim to present Hejdánek as a philosophical theorist of truth, but rather as an unusually passionate lover of it. What is remarkable about Hejdánek's philosophy – that is, his love for truth – is that he does not exclude either himself or the events he participates in from the search for truth. Evidence of this can be found in Hejdánek's self-reflections regarding the period from 1967 to 1989, full of dramatic events and confrontations with the communist regime. Dismissals from work, unjust convictions in fabricated trials, involvement in Charter 77, severe regime harassment... In a word – "troubles." Despite this, Hejdánek remains a philosopher and treats himself as a philosophical problem. Sometimes he doesn't even speak about himself at all, as the idea takes precedence; and yet it is clear that he evaluates his own experience. This is precisely what makes Hejdánek's texts humanly impactful: the personal level remarkably intertwines with the transpersonal level. And as a result, what begins as purely personal and contemporary records becomes a testimony that speaks to the present day.
