Description
Scientific research and experiences from pedagogical practice show that both German and English syntax present numerous pitfalls for Czech native speakers, as they are unfamiliar with certain linguistic phenomena from Czech. The publication focuses on German and English syntactic structures that differ from Czech, in which Czech native speakers often make mistakes. It presents directly erroneous constructions and complements them with clarifying comments and explanations of the essence of these errors. The publication loosely follows the monographs 'English, Czech, and German Verbs in Mutual Comparison' (2019, Ondráková, Tauchmanová, Göbelová) and 'Expressing Foreign Opinions in German and English' (2021, Ondráková, Tauchmanová). Its aim (like that of the previous publications) is to help navigate the pitfalls of similarities and differences between Czech, English, and German.
