Description
What do history and evolutionary biology have in common? Seemingly nothing. However, the authors demonstrate that they belong to the same category: both disciplines reconstruct history (of people and life in general) based on preserved traces, then both interpret these findings – weaving a narrative about the possible course of past events. Events that occurred in some way and to which we do not have direct access. The authors also seriously ask whether other forms of life ('non-human') do the same: namely, that they meaningfully interpret their lives in the context of the world in which they live, but also based on the memory and experience of their lineage stretching back through the ages.
