Description
The dual collection Evaporation consists of two autonomous yet interconnected poetic wholes. The first, titled Veraicon, enters the realm of erotic poetry, utilizing traditional metaphorical techniques to capture the poetics of love and builds a spiral of both small and larger poems as a celebration of the beloved being, with all its ascents, twists, and falls. At the same time, it subtly opens up to a deeper spiritual experience, for which love and erotic expression serve as an allegory and a riddle, behind which the true image – veraicon – is hidden. The second part, named after the author of the Heavenly Ladder and the Church Father Climacus, fully adheres to the mystical tradition, both Christian and Sufi. The ascent of the soul is captured here as a personal journey beginning with birth and initial knowledge, which is gradually developed and abandoned in the cycle of dark descents and light ascents, the ultimate result of which is the Sufi fanā’ – evaporation. Although both parts seem thematically different, they are internally connected, with evaporation as the final state of the soul and human heart permeating both collections as a fundamental deep motif.
