Description
The haiku collection by the mother was created over the span of one year (2005–2006) while nursing the author's second son, Cyril. The impulse to write initially came from a diary in which the author described the events of the days in ten-minute intervals, and later from the haiku, inspired by a chart where she recorded the rhythm of nursing at the suggestion of her midwife during the first week after her son's birth. The collection contributes to the discussion about the social isolation of parents, especially women on parental leave. The author closely examines images of parenthood that are very distant from the schematic image of a mother or the common notion of automatic happiness associated with motherhood/parenthood.
