Description
The publication presents the latest milestones and forms of Czech and Slovak research concerning the Christian East – a specific and diverse, yet still marginal field of the humanities in our country. A collective of authors, most of whom work at several universities in the Czech Republic and Slovakia, occasionally also abroad, will introduce readers to the scholarly questions related to Slovakia, the Balkans, Russia, Ukraine, as well as Egypt, Mesopotamia, Byzantium, Greece, and Italy... This joint work is dedicated to the life anniversary of the researcher, organizer, translator, and inspirer Michal Řoutila, without whom modern Czech scholarly interest in the Christian East cannot be imagined.
