The sixteenth issue of our yearbook opens with the thematic block "Heresy, Alternatives, Apostates," in which the authors focus on both ancient and medieval heresies. The space is given to the anathemas of the Ecumenical Council in Ephesus (431), the first phase of the condemnation of the "heresy" of iconoclasm during the seventh Ecumenical Council (787), as well as the then "politically incorrect" polemic of the Christian Arab author ?Abd al-Masíha ibn Isháqa al-Kindí against the "heresy" of Islam, and of course the phenomenon of the so-called Bosnian Church. In the Fontes section on the topic, we provide translations of texts against the Bogomils from the 12th century and the Words Against Heretics by the Russian monk Josif Volocký from the early 16th century. Also in other sections, we present interesting contributions, including discussions on the anaphora of Theodore of Mopsuestia or, in light of the recent coronavirus crisis, a relevant reflection on plagues and other epidemics throughout the centuries.
