Description
Ethics Problems II covers important topics falling within moral (philosophical) psychology, several of which (such as the philosophy of emotions or the philosophy of literature) have since developed into distinct areas of research. The texts in the first section identify the prevailing paradigm in contemporary ethics and confront it with concepts of the good life and good character. The second section contains texts pointing to the moral relevance and emotional aspects of our moral experience. It also includes Kant's response to the problem of the legitimacy of emotion as moral motivation. The third section presents texts that critically reflect on the form and style of ethical philosophizing and their relationship to moral education and the development of imagination, in which literature and art play a significant role. Ethics Problems II complements the collections Ethics Problems I and Fundamental Ethical Theories with a selection of philosophically significant issues in contemporary Anglo-Saxon ethics and moral psychology that have developed as a result of the first critical wave of virtue ethics and established themselves as an integral part of the core philosophical curriculum.
