The book Strange Literature? Chapters from Czech Homosexual Prose after 1989 aims to describe the specific manifestations of homosexual experience or notions associated with homosexuality in contemporary Czech fiction. This type of text has so far received only a few studies, yet almost all popular texts or works from the lower tiers of literary creation, as well as literature for underage readers and literary expressions in serial publications, have remained completely outside of scholarly interest. Strange Literature? fills this gap with a focused analysis of Czech homosexual texts from the last thirty years, utilizing texts from numerous periodicals published by the LGBT+ community for the first time in our context to understand the complex of so-called homosexual literature. This creates a vivid picture of the development of minority literature, which has so far remained hidden from the mainstream reader.
