Description
In the second volume of the publication "Rocks and People," the author focuses primarily on the individuals who have somehow connected their lives with the Adršpach-Teplice Rocks. First, there are those who found employment in the rocks. Alongside traditional professions such as rock guides and ferrymen, there is also space for professions that have already become part of the past of the rocks: gunners and echo trumpeters, organ grinders, harpists, or lyre players, innkeepers in the rock tavern, and others. The chapter dedicated to wartime shows places in the rocks that served as shelters when needed. In connection with World War II, prisoner-of-war camps and war prisoners who were forced to work in the rocks or nearby are also recalled. The book also remembers films and filmmakers for whom the rocky areas provided unique exteriors. It does not forget the entire array of actors who appeared in these films. The second part of the book offers a fairly comprehensive view of the activities of many people who have been preparing travel memorabilia – souvenirs – for visitors to the rocks for several centuries.
