Description
The book The Marvelous World of Celtic Christianity concludes a series that begins with The Celtic Church of the First Millennium and Its Spirituality (Brno 2002) and continues with Celtic Christianity (Červený Kostelec 2010), and is the result of many years of study, travels to the British Isles and continental Europe, gathering relevant literature, and creating photographic documentation. The insights it provides, together with the previous texts, create a much more complete picture of historical Celtic Christianity as a distinctive form of orthodox Christianity. The publication also addresses the Celts in the pre-Christian period, including the Celts in Bohemia and Moravia. It discusses the druids – including female druids – and their relationship to Christianity. King Arthur and the story of Tristan and Isolde are also not overlooked – that is, what can be said about them seriously. Doc. ThDr. Gorazd Josef Vopatrný, Th.D., is the head of the Institute of Eastern Christianity at the Hussite Theological Faculty of Charles University.
